I have not posted in a long time but here is what I have going right now. It was supposed to be for the flood loader area (a shipping and recieving dock) but it is too large so will go ahead and finish it and use it elsewhere some time. Mike
The most recent issue of The Warbonnet has inspired me to 'get crackin'' on the freight F fleet details... This one is a 'spare' cab unit (not part of the 4 LABC sets). One of the things I took away from the article was the 'freight' pilot and ATSF-applied footboards on all these units (the third batch with the 48" DB fans-280L-Cs seemed to built with the 'passenger pilot' and integral step but these also had the larger fuel tank and FARR vertical slit grills, as well as a few other detail changes)
Just finished up a fictional Western Maryland GP60. No real backstory or explanation, I just wanted a WM unit and I had a GP60.
I've been detailing the next of my 1st and 2nd run Kato Freight F units for Santa Fe (I have 8 cab units in all to do...) I made a deeper hole for myself when I realized I needed to alter the pilots AFTER I applied the BLMA cut levers!... So, I carefully removed the molded step, inserted some scrap styrene triangles to fill the gap, recontoured the pilot profile, then used Mr Surfacer 500 to fill any gaps. I cut small bits of 400 and 600 grit sandpaper and glued them to the tip of toothpicks to create some mini sanding sticks; these pics show how I eas able to smooth the area w/o damaging the cut levers...whew! I'll add the footboards on either side of the pilot before I respray the flat black... Bruce
Just finished painting and detailing some more Vehicles. I need a buff guy in a hockey mask to put in the driver's seat.
Very nice work there! I picked one up a month ago and plan on doing it as well. Looks great!! Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
Right now I am stripping a MTL horse car, I am going to build a model of SPMW 4300 as it was painted in the 1980's. http://sopacincg.com/the-mow-horse-car-part-1/
I wheathered this shop and turned it into a tobacco shop, named after my grandfather who smoked all day. In those days, tobacco was still healthy.....
Finishing up PRR X29 and PRR H8. PRR X29 In Fine Ultra Detail: PRR X29 In white strong and flexible plastic: And PRR H8 in FUD.
the only thing I'll take serious is the number, its awfully low... I.e. It's in the P42 number sequence.
Heavy and Light Traction - been doing a lot of test prints with Shapeways these last couple weeks, dialing in my models...
I think the young people call this a "foo-bie". Ann Arbor had a roster of cabeese with streamlined cupola. Unfortunately, no one makes even a cupola in N scale, so until I decide to build one myself or have someone do it, this Atlas can pass off as one.
Letting the primer dry on a Bachman F9. It'll be my test shell to see how good Model Master Blue Angel Blue(N&W Blue) will look actually look on an engine.
Yep - I've been experimenting with the limits of their raw brass printing and in short - I'm amazed. These can't open and close so they're not as fun, but on the other hand they will stay in position (ahem, Kato GG1) and you can get the exact pan for your model instead of settling for a "sorta-kinda" fits model. I have a couple more tweaks before I make them available in my store. Here's a single arm pantograph I got last week for my LRVs: -Mike
I'm just now getting into n scale, quite by accident. The old estate sale. I bought an "around the Christmas tree" kit, with one locomotive with no engine (Reader's Digest), and one that had horrible everything (LifeLike 0-6-0 T). I had decided to put a kit together for my 7 year old neighbor boy, and posted on here for some information. Two of Your members, Rodsup9000 and brokemoto took pity on me, and moved the project back on course. They came up,with locomotives, reefers, a LOT of track, and a great caboose. Yesterday, I completed the outer oval on a hollow core door, and here is one of the great locomotives that they donated to the cause making the maiden lap around the course that I dubbed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It made the first and every other lap at full speed with no derailment. Thank You to the guys who are going to make for one very happy Cub Scout. So,on my workbench is my first railway. So on my bench lies my first railway.
I finished laying track. I just want to set up a control center, wire it up, and fill in the hole. He's going to have fun with this! My Wife hates everything. She saw the train rolling around, and She said, "Now THAT is really cool. You can build a big railroad if You want to. She said maybe she would even be the engineer once in a while! Now THAT is a cool hobby!
