I just received 2 Chinese knockoff UNO boards. Look great but I don't think I will even try to install DCC++ on them as I noticed that the crystal is not stamped 16 but 12. I bet this means that the UNOs are running at 12Mhz not the standard 16Mhz and I would think that the slower speeds are going to seriously affect the timing needed to generate a proper DCC signal. I wold be happy to have someone prove me wrong though John C H Canada
there are 2 crystals the one with 12 is for the usb and is next to the usb connector the 16mhz one is next to the 6pin ISP connector, and is microscopic below (c6 and r12) Steph!
Thanks Steph Finally got home to look at the boards, I see what you mean. Interesting that I have seen some eBay UNO clones with 16.000 stamped on the USB crystal. is that for different USB types? John C H Canada
no, probably different chips used for the usb, some are ftdi, some are ch340/341 (my preference, no driver problems), some use Arduino u8 or u16 chips have different reqs.
