I have 4 sets of the Walthers Thrall 5 Unit Articulated Double Stack Car Sets that I have never opened until today. After inspecting one of the sets, one question that stands out to me is... How does Walthers expect to keep these sets coupled during running ? The pin that holds the truck on is barely tall enough to keep the hoop from the next car in place without potentially slipping off. I probably will never use these and plan to part with all the sets, just do not want any buyer to complain after they are sold that the cars do not stay coupled. Why would Walthers sell them with this flaw ? Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with these and can offer some insight please.
I run these along with the singleton cars on an Ntrak layout. Never had a problem with them. Have you tried running them?
I have several of these 5 car sets and don't have trouble with any of them. The center pin sticks up far enough to allow the following car to hook on to it. They do not come apart on less you lift the following car up.
Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, I have never run them as I have never built the new layout yet. Way it looks, probably will not get to it. I do appreciate the comments.
