Anyone going to this next month? I just booked my flight, car and hotel for the show and could use a little help manning the tables if anyone in interested. Be my first time at this show just hope it's as good as I have heard as it's a long trip. 10hrs on a plane and in airports each way. rich www.rslaserkits.com
Seriously thinking about attending this year. It's not that far away from me (in Virginia). Is it really worth going? Are there usually vendors there selling items?
There are vendors of both new and used items. It is well worth the trip. In addition, there are layouts only in N, it is a great time for all who model in N. I usually make it about every other year.
Last year there was at least one T-Trak layout. I think the venue change will help attract more people. It is only a few blocks from Alto tower, the NS main runs behind the venue, and will have more space (and working A/C). I am going as a vendor for the second time, hoping to thin the herd some more. Had a good time last year even though it seemed smaller and less attended than usual. The train ride on Friday night is a nice added attraction as well. Scott
A good friend of mine is going and he is selling. Multiple tables worth. All I can say is bring money. His prices will be competitive.
For anyone that is going, please keep in mind that this is not the average train show with a lot of venders and a few layouts. Here the emphasis is on the layouts with a few venders. The intent is to develop comradery in N scale beyond one's local community. Most layouts are Ntrak but there are others also. I spoke to Mike at the Greenberg Show in Monroeville last weekend. He told me that there were eighteen layouts scheduled to be at the show. I think the facility in Bedford only accommodated ten, possibly eleven. So come to say hello to your fellow N scale modelers, ask some questions, hopefully get some ideas and maybe pick up some merchandise from the venders. And will someone please take some pictures this time !!!!!!!
Regarding taking some pictures.....I was lucky enough to go to this event back in 2011 at the old venue. Here's my photo album from that memorable visit (one of my "bucket list" items): http://www.pbase.com/atsf_arizona/n_scale_wkend_2011&page=all Randgust's Hickory Valley: I won't be there this year, but if you get the chance to go, you'll really enjoy it (IMHO). And don't forget, right there in Altoona, is the Railroader's Museum : http://www.railroadcity.com/visit/museum/ and http://www.railroadcity.com/inside-the-museum/ well worth the visit!
Naw, just a small attempt at some humor as I am always the one who forgets to bring a camera. If I do remember the camera and I do take pictures then I face the task of uploading them to Trainboard. I could do it with my old computer with Windows XP but this new one has Windows 10 and I am finding that a lot of the things I could do rather easily on XP is either more difficult or not possible without further software enhancements.
Sorry, I did take pictures last year, but never uploaded them. There were 3 T-Trak layouts last year The Cantington N-trak layout is the one that always grabs my attention. Maybe because it is always full of B&O, C&O, and WM equipment. I will upload some pics after work.
if you go to the website, there is a link to the hotels. IIRC, there's one called the Wye & its $50 something a night.
I just added an album of some of the pics I took at the 2015 weekend. All were taken Saturday before opening. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?media/albums/n-scale-weekend-2015.3140/ DSC08579 by CPR9009 posted Jul 22, 2016 at 7:59 PM
