An HO depot that I kit bashed for a friend's layout. Hempstead, Texas is northwest of Houston on the old Houston & Texas Central line that became part of Southern Pacific. Now UP of course.

I second that! And I know messes. If that little snuff box was used by the local PD, they must have either been really strapped for funds or the chief was a hippie.
I agree - that's really cool. It brought a smile to my face, because before trains, in my childhood, I did a lot of Lego. I could go for hours with that stuff, quietly, which worried my Mom to the point that she would check in on me regularly. Now Lego and trains? Right of the scale on the fun meter.
Something about a carbon footprint or something like that. Anyway, if they had to take a prisoner in he had to run alone side. Finally they junked the thing.
That reminds me of a local PD that bought a couple of smaller Volvo sedans, with the intent to replace their fleet of Crown Victorias in the long term. Save gas and bla-bla-bla. Looks more uppity too. The ladies loved them. The male cops hated the things. I don't blame them - they have to spend their entire day in a car, and a Crown Vic is roomy and comfy for long hours (the reason why I'm on my third one). Plenty of room for perps too. They bought more Crown Vics.
I made the most of the free shipping at Shapeways and got some new stuff for my factory site, one of the items is a cryogenic vaporizer. I wanted to make one, just because the name sounds cool (and the thing is actually colder than cool).
