I live in Alton, NH and my father and his best friend worked on this layout until their deaths several years ago. It is located in a dry warm room and has been idle for many years. I am looking to sell this to someone who would appreciate it.... I am NOT looking to get rich, just want to be sure that someone who takes it wants it and will continue the work started by my Dad. Happy to chat about it with any of you.

It is 74" long by 4' wide (not including control panel). It is N Scale, hopefully you can see the diagram in one of the pictures from the 2nd and 3rd pictures If you look at the bill of materials shown in the photo from the construction plan book, you will note that the minimum radius is 9-3/4".

One of them members on here said this:

"Here's my rough estimate of what your dad's layout might be worth for resale:
$100 total for the 4 MRC power packs and all of the electrical switches
$300 for all of the track (two dozen track switches @ $10 each, plus all the other basic track pieces)
    $50 for the wood framework
+ labor to assemble and wire up everything.

I could see you asking $500 based upon material content alone. The 'X' factor, then, is what you might estimate to have been the construction time to build it up and what value you place on those hours."

I would be happy to discuss any reasonable offer as I really would like to have it go to someone who wants it.

    Thanks so much,

    Gary

Could this be raffled? Maybe $20 tickets? Pull the name at 50 or 100 tickets? Something like that? It would make the cost of moving a little more palatable and still get the seller a price that might be tough to get otherwise. It would be a shame to see all of that nice work just scrapped.

I gave this a little thought but those are real issues for me. Then it's code 80 and not quite what I want in a final piece. I try to justify it but it just doesn't wash other than what might be an insulting offer. And maybe not even then. Still, don't just scrap it. Maybe somebody local has a kid who is interested. I'll bet a local or regional modelling club could find a good home for this.

I would raffle. The MRC packs I dunno, maybe to somebody still running DC on a small layout.
