At 06. and 07.October 2007 in Rodgau, more information here. But at first you have to take your modules, pack the car and go. You see me at the FREMO layout. Wolfgang
Looking forward to seeing some of you there. I'll be passing thru Frankfurt on business and will come by on Saturday.
Made it here safely, stopped by the setup evening. (The first US Model RR Convention in Germany is taking place this weekend, Oct 6-7, in Rodgau, Germany (close to Frankfurt): US-Modellbahn-Convention I am very, very fortunate to be able to stop by here for a day on Saturday while on a layover for a business trip. A generous Thank You to *Horst Meier*, lead organizer for this event, who welcomed me to stop by on setup night tonight (Fri Oct 5). Those of you from US you may recognize him from his recent Model Railroader cover shot and/or his German-language model railroading book, this is him and his layout at this convention: It's going to be a great show. If you are in the Frankfurt, Germany area, you would really enjoy it. I put the rest of the photos I made tonight in a Community Webshots album: 1stUS_ModelRR_ConvGermanys photos and albums on webshots And time permitting, I hope to be able to post a few more. Take care all.
SNFF 2007 10 06 Here's a few more photos from the 1st US-themed Model RR Convention in Germany, Oct 6-7th, in Rodgau, Germany (near Frankfurt). If you are near Frankfurt on Sunday Oct 7th, please go and enjoy! The venue is a very short walk from the Dudenhofen station off the S1 commuter train, and you will really enjoy yourself. The modelers and attendees are mostly from Germany, but there are people here from France, from Switzerland, and I'm sure a few other countries in Europe as well! 1. "Somewhere West" in N scale: 2. "Dolly Varden Mines Rwy" in HO:
4. "East Woodlands" in O: 5. Some people: 6. The venue: Clearly, the world is getting closer together every day... we all share so much commonality on our planet Earth. My special thanks to Horst Meier, the lead organiser, for his kindness in making my visit so very special.
Wow, you had a great time! Thanks for sharing! That bridge over derelict track looks so real! The track is so beat up, worn out, unmaintained, and neglected that it looks real! Amazing shots, thanks for sharing!
Here's also a video on the "Somewhere West" N scale modular layout: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC--H-fvfmg"]YouTube - N scale modular layout[/ame] Thank you to Lucien Weiss, the builder of the incredible scenery, to the layout owner Daniel Roth, and to Eugene Haensler and Stefan Wagner, all for showing me around. So very special to meet all of you.
What a great looking convention, John, thanks for all the photos and taken us along for the ride. Great looking layouts with top notch modeling Guys & gals not to mention the task of transporting and set up of all the layouts. Thanks for letting us also enjoy your works.
Yes, it was a great show. And LOTS of people, and imagine, the first one I ran into was John :biggrin2: Many people had traveled a long way, from California, but also Denmark, Switzerland, etc.. As the pictures show, the layouts had a very high standard, but also the clinics Horst gave about weathering were impressive. Time to put my hands on an airbrush and try myself... Another inspiration: Wolfgang's moving gates, will this work in N as well? To those who are reading (Wolfgang, John, anyone else?), thank you for the show and the pictures.
It was a special pleasure for me to meet you, John. And it was a good convention, we have had a lot of fun. You can see our layout at my site. Wolfgang
Hi John, I hope you had a good flight to Philadelphia. It was really incredible to meet you in Germany. It was also a very special event for me to share some ideas with you about modeling the US Railroads. Thanks for posting these nice pictures. Daniel Roth
Daniel, welcome to TrainBoard! Yes, it was a good convention and interesting to meet some people personally. Wolfgang
Hello John, I see, you are well back home. It was really a pleasure to meet you. The Convention was great and I have met a lot of old and new friends. Thank you for posting the pictures. I would be happy when we can meet us in 2009 at the Convention in Switzerland. Regards Stefan
