I'm starting to photograph the layout. Here's the first shot. I was hoping I'd get to ride the 2-6-6-2 for this tour, but she's on yard lead 2; the coal hoppers are on yard lead 1, and can either head into the yard, or crossover onto the main. I'll get to ride in the F-3s for this tour. It's on the main. The crossover is milepost 0.
I agree about the lights, very important item which tends to be missing from many exhibition layouts. makes photography much easier when there is good lighting from the viewing side.:thumbs_up::thumbs_up:
Yes, I made adjustable mounts to hold low voltage halogen "under cabnet pancake lights" at a good position to light the modules. It really helps if your portable modules are set up in an area with poor lighting.
GP38-2 X Four My four Kato GP38-2s arrive east bound from El Paso running elephant style. I have just re-engined these with Atlas GP40-2 mechanisms. Just in time, of course, for the Atlas GP38-2.
Thanks, Secret Weapon. That's the old Newell Steel location. Here is part of a news article. Sivyer Steel Corporation, Bettendorf, IA, along with its recycling division, Riverside Products, has completed the purchase of certain of the assets of Newell Industries, Inc., San Antonio, TX. The asset purchase includes: the "Newell" name when associated with shredder manufacturing; intellectual property; all licences; drawings; specifications; casting patterns, molds, flasks and fixtures; customer lists and orders; and general intangibles associated with the business.
Yes, I am using Helicon. I'm using it in a little different way with a 12mm setting on a 12-24mm Nikkor zoom. It took me five tries to get this. The first four "nearest" shots were at f/22; the rest were at f/11, which is the lens' best sharpness. It's a total of 11 shots. The key shots for sharpness seemed to be No. 4 & 5. No. 4 was shot at f/22; No. 5 was shot at f/11, without changing the focal distance. I'm working on on shot from further out; it looks even better.
