The Capella is a 145' oceanographic research ship of the German government, homebased in Rostock on the Baltic Sea.

Built in 2003, it is always impeccably maintained, with spotless emerald green decks. With gray decks it would be equally at home in any US port. Primarily a survey ship in the North and Baltic Seas, it has accommodations for three officers, six crew and two scientists.

This model in N and Z (Z scale shown) features custom railings and ladders, three ship-distinct lifting cranes, and two newly-designed speedboats with cast resin hulls. The multi-level superstructure is easily constructed with an innovative slot-in-groove method--well, it's like putting together a Bigwheels plastic trike. It's a fun ship to build, and handsome. It will dominate a small harbor scene, as it does in the harbors of small resort towns in the Wadden Sea.
