    CAPT Rex Settlemoir sez...
I obtained this photo of the Vienna, Illinois Big 4 depot from the National Archives.
They also provided me with a complete set of plans and construction drawings. Photo is dated 1915 -- four years before my Grandfather bid in the agency job there, where he would remain until he died in 1946. Note the wagon and team of horses to the right!

I always enjoy seeing photos showing life in small-town America from 100 or more years ago. Thanks for your continued research and sharing, Roger.
Interesting that money would be spent for non-functional boards on the gable ends of an otherwise plain structure in an apparently non-prosperous town.

Roger, somewhat off topic--are these recent from Capt. Settlemoir? He used to contribute a lot of steam photos to George Elwood's site and I wondered if he was still around. Nice photo of the Vienna depot.

The last item I received from him was in early 2008. So, I am not aware of his status.

Wow. Great detail. They added quite a bit of fancy work, so it must have been a very important place!
