Does anyone here have, or have access to Lionel catalogs, from the years 1962-1966? I'd like to find a set I once had. Which was produced during those years.

    There's books

There's a company that makes Lionel price guides of all eras. The company is Greenbergs and the book is a little over $10 if thats what you're looking for.

    Hi-

Actually, I have one of the pocket price guide/checklists from Greenberg.

What I was looking for, is information on a diesel sold during that noted time period. Wondering if it came in two versions. One with, and without MagneTraction. I don't recall a MT version. Hoping a glance at a couple of catalogs would shed some light.

I remember when he was in high school. I've been to his house a few times. The area TTOS and TCA people used to meet at various people's homes. Dan was mainly an AF colelctor. It was a lot of fun, years ago.

    Hi Greg-

The 211 Texas Special ALCo A-A. Hoping to learn a bit more, about variants. With and without MagneTraction. Also, with or without a riveted weight in the powered A unit...

It's been a long time. That was my very favorite diesel. Even though I had others.

My Santa Fe 210 from the same time period had MagnaTraction and no weight riveted in the A unit. I've seen the 211 units and don't recall a weight in those but it's been years since I actively looked for Lionel. I know it doesn't answer your question directly. I'll ask my son's boss, who might know off hand.

Well I found out my Santa Fe was a 220. Now let's see if I remember this correctly. :D The 210 was the first run of Texas Special Alco FA's. It had a three position e unit and two axle magna traction. The 211 came in two versions, one with the 2 position e unit (no neutral) and one axle magna traction. The second and later version had a two position e unit and one traction tire with the weight riveted in the shell. Also there were a couple of sets that weren't cataloged with the Texas Special AA engines. No mention was made of their Magana traction or traction tires. Does this remotely sound close to what you had as a boy Ken? I can go and take notes to make sure. :)

    Greg-

Sounds like what I was hoping to learn. The latter was what I owned. I remember the traction tire. And the weight.

    Thanks!
