Well, being an accountant (CA, or CPA to you yanks), its time to issue an annual report for my rail company. 2005 is the first year of operations for my highly stylized CN, based in Toronto with interchanges to the US and some branches to New Liskeard (mining) and Aurora (manufacturing and commuter services). Since I returned to MR after an absence of 20 years globetrotting basically my old stuff is pretty worthless (anyone need 14 20 year old Atlas remote switches (NIB and they still work)?).

Real Estate: Acquired a plot of land 11 feet x 10.5 feet (and a 1 foot by 13 foot extension) at an altitute of 49-50 inches. Structural landscaping started in Febraury 2005 and is completed (2x3s, 1/2inch ply and 1/2 inch foam), but as there has been no rain, the vegetation retains a pinkish hue. An option has been placed on a further 2.5 foot by 5 foot section for a potential harbour.

Track: Japanese track has been sourced and is is in place for all areas (approx 40 feet of double main and 36 feet of single line branches plus hidden staging, yards (main is 12 tracks, service 5) and 4 switching areas), approx 15 feet of double main has rusted. 52 switches have been installed.

Motive Power: 29 units have been acquired during the year (including 3 steam), all but 9 in CN colours (green or wet noodle). 2 are in primer awaiting VIA paint. 7 units have had radio equipment installed, 4 other units have had a failed installation, the contractor of which has been discharged and has sub-contracted work to a reputable Toronto rebuilder.

Rolling stock-Passenger: 15 units in 4 different schemes (PRR, VIA blue, CP marroon and CN green) were acquired during the year. One unit was donated by a Russian charity (a christmas present from my wife).

Rolling stock-Freight: 130 units were acquired. Most were new from builders, but a couple were purchased from other roads in Texas (republic of Garland), Florida and one other place that we forgot. One purchase of 8 units was never completed due to the death of a CEO.

Buildings: Appox 30 structures have been sourced this year. The majority fo which have been framed but are not yet ready for occupancy.

Signalling. An old MRC Tech2 provides power for the non-radio equipment, the radio equiped units are served via a MRC PA set-up. The sub-division has been divided into 10 districts, and although cabling has been installed for each (plus switches and lighting) the lines remain unlit as yet as drops are in progress). 28 switches are controlled by 12 switching modules.

Other equipement: Significant additions to OE include a dremel knock-off, and compund mitre saw, a Badger AB and compressor, and a cheap soldering iron.

    Plans for 2006 include.
    1. continue to weather and lay the right-of-way, and light it to the control system.
    2. install radio equipement in more motive power.
    3. complete some buildings
    4 water the darn grass.
5 increase employee training w.r.t. the paintshop and electical repairs using the darn soldering iron (an watch the fingers, that last brown spot took quite a while to disappear).

Management remains optimistic that progress will continue in 2006.

That is significant progress for year one. I have spent the year in training, LOL

Anyway if you are out Pickering way let me know perhaps we can get together.

Excellent synopsis of your company. I don't feel as guilty about all my acquisitions last year. However, I probably won't make full disclosure to the VP (if I want to live) regarding my assets. I will just keep it to myself for now. [IMG]

I make it policy to not summarize the company acquisitions. Such a document could fall into the wrong hands......

Okane, I'm up in Newmarket, and I generally work downtown TO.

Stephan. She knows. We had a very good year with consulting for the banking industry and we're not streached by any means. Anyway start-up year is always the killer. Acquisitions will definately be lower as I have so many projects in hand now and we're expecting our second son in early March.

Very entertaining, Krasny! And well conceived and done--I, too, am chuckling.

I've written many an annual report over the years, and never thought of taking that approach for my MRR.
