A couple of months ago someone inquired about using their 4-4-0 for service until the 1940s - 1950s. My best efforts at finding the original post have failed me, so here goes.

Continued reading of "Classic Trains" (latest edition) exposed me to the Ferdinand Railroad a 6.5 mile line between Ferdinand and Huntingburg, Indiana. Which road in April 1952 had just traded their #3 (4-4-0) for their #9 (another 4-4-0) from a neighboring short line. The road also had some interesting diesel power.

So, whoever asked the question, hope you find this little bit of info. By the way the internet has considerable info on this short, short line.

I have a photo showing the Boston & Maine still using 4-4-0 #1002 for commuter service between Boston's North Station and Marblehead as late as March, 1947.
