The invisible infrared light works in any lighting condition from normal room light to full darkness, so accessories connected to the MRD8 will continue to function during night and twilight operations. Each detector uses pulsed infrared light to minimize the effects of room lighting, and each detector is uniquely modulated so adjacent detectors will not interfere with each other. Hello Dave, Yes, John here. Intense ambient light, esp. sunlight, will saturate the IR receiver. You'll need to provide shading or orient the sensors to point away from sunlight or high wattage incandescent bulbs. Also provide protection from the weather if you intend to use these outdoors.
