I apologize for the length of time the SD70ACe project is taking!!! The Mi-Jacks before this took about 8 months and ask Reverend Jacunski about his GP7 repaint. 17months later it returned to his hands(even longer than John's CSX C44-9 repaint). Thank God I never got struck by lightning as he was very patient but wanting, wanting to know when he was going to get his GP7!!!

    Tim,
Go ahead and take care of others first. I am in no hurry and can wait for my shells.

    Great News!

Monday I finished the artwork for the newest brass sheet of creations. On that sheet in the #1 position is 12 SD70ACe Handrails (details on the correct side) which will equal out to 60 when etched. I emailed it over to the professional etcher shortly after finishing the artwork for their approval or corrections needed on Tuesday when they returned back to work.

I had not heard back from them today so I called them on my cell phone only to find out the artwork specialist, was not scheduled to come back to work till Thursday (today, for most of you reading this). I now await the reply email prepared to fix whatever needs fixing for a speedy production run. Oh, and by the way, their are many goody first time in Z etched items on this one!! Woo Hoo!!!!!

You'll just have to wait to see what they are, after the SD70's are out the door! Sigh!

    Have a nice day/evening!

No kidding! This is the first time I've seen this board since May! Scrapping around for work and then having to commute 3 hrs a day once I find some. Trying to raise a few coins for a custom painted SD40-2. Times are tough! Good luck, Tim! If you ever have any free time I'd like to stop by for a visit, especially since I'm commuting to Atlanta these days.

I was in LA two weeks ago delivering a layout and I spent about two hours at a friend's place doing some touch up on the layout before delivery. I remarked to my friend that those two hours were more than I had done on my own layout in the past three months.
Sure felt good to play with trains again, but frustrating to know that the dry spell continues.

Now I look back and wonder how I ever found time in the beginning.
Times are slow and business is worse......you'd think I'd go to the shop instead of sitting here complaining )

    SD70ACe Project Update 12-12-09

Currently the newest artwork has been approved and I am waiting for the day(should be before Christmas) when the Etcher contacts me for payment on the etched brass order. This is the second go at it, hoping all is well and they etch perfectly. Will soon find out.

Sorry for the lack of updates as work is taking most of my time. Work from 6am to 7:30pm-12midnight. Fixing to go on night shift for 2 months which will really mess up my schedule!

Just want to say thanks to everyone who has patiently waited for this project to be complete. I know David is above all waiting to complete the SD70ACe's he started so many months ago.

Now I patiently wait that phone call and arrival of etched brass.

    Hobo Tim

p.s. If something should go wrong with the etchings, I will be returning EVERYONES $$$ and send the masters, the shells, the molds, and any other project items to David.

    Great News!!!

    12-18-09

A call from my wife has confirmed that a package from a certain professional etching company has arrived at me house! This is somewhat Awesome News!! The SOMEWHAT has to do with te fact that they sent the package to the wrong address even after I specifically told them to send it to me in Texas, not Georgia!!! To make a long story short the brass is here, just not HERE, and it will be shipped from Georgia to me come Monday!

Will post more when I recieve the package and have time to inspect the brass. Crossing my fingers!!!

    Damn It!!

Aw Damn It!! This is the pits! First, the Etcher sent the package to my home in Georgia, even after I told them to send it to Texas. Well, it arrived today, and after opening the package carefully, I basked in the brilliants of the freshly etched brass. Well, upon inspecting it, I noticed that the handrail brass had no vent/door detail etched into it on the correct side. Fearing the same thing that happened last time, I flipped the sheet over to expose a blank un-etched side on the bottom. Hmmmm, no detail, where is the detail? I immediately turned on the computer and reviewed the artwork and sure enough, the detail is there, but not etched in the brass.

Wondering if something went wrong with the etcher I inspected the rest of the brass etchings on the sheet. Wow!!! About 52% of the sheet has detail missing from the brass. I immediately called the etcher and caught the sales person as she was walking out the door for the Christmas holiday. She told me that the artwork employee would be in on Thursday and I should contact them. I just sent a detailed email to this person showing the artwork hi-lighted with details missing and also included photos of the missing detail in the brass I received. The sales person said something about Tooling or Etching could be the problem. All I know is I need the detail etched brass!!!!

Now I am awaiting the reply from the artwork person at the etcher to see what happened and to secure another set of brass. Either just what was messed up or an entirely new set of etchings. I am hoping a new set of etchings!!!

Sorry for the delay. Each of you reading this, who have a vested interest in the this project, I know your frustration, but believe you me, I have a culminated frustration that equals all of you together. To know it was not me who screwed this order up this time is a relief but I am red Hot with anger!!!!

Will keep you posted as to the response I get from the etcher!

    Todays Update!

I heard from the etcher today. Upon review of the artwork they have found where they have made the bo-bo's and will be re-running the artwork thru the etcher soon after the holidays! I can hardly wait. 3rd time's a charm, I hope!!!

"Hey Tim, what are all those other nice looking etchings on that sheet? I can read some of the wording on it while other items look like........"

He he he!!! Just have to wait and see!!!!

    Hobo Tim

p.s. Unfortunately I don't know if the etcher is going to want these sheets back so I can't go cutting any brass out of the sheet yet!!!! Ugh!!!!!!
