    New Update 12-27-09

Tomorrow, Monday, the etcher will start on the process of re-etching my order. With almost 50% not useable they have hinted at a 50% reduction in cost. I don't know if that is for the 5 sheets I have now and full cost for the 5 they are about to re-etch, but I will be finding out as these sheets are not cheap. The tooling cost is rising more and more too. Has gone from $125 to $185 in 2 years and seems to be rising still. Ugh!!!

Anyways, here is a photo of the beautifully etched SD70ACe handrails they just sent to me, minus the side details.

Hope to hear from them Monday by the time I get off work.

    Thanks for your patience!

    1-16-10 Update

I was sent an email stating all brass would be shipped to me soon. With this I broke out the last SD70ACe molds I made and decided to cast a few more shells to finish the number needed to ship. I made these molds almost 2 years ago. They were sealed in a zip-lock that had some N0-Oxy stuff shot inside the bag. The molds are in awesome condition. I cast one set, but need the pressure pot to confirm a question. I need to make another set of molds to complete the SD70ACe shells!!!

    Will post more updates soon!!

    My Sincerest ApologeeZe

It's Tuesday, May 25th, 1405 hours. I am sending this from work. Today the turn-around is more or less over. About 15 or so workers have been laid off with another 80+ to go soon. Some of those will transfer to our sister job about a mile up the road. But only for a week or two and that job will be over. Not sure if I am transferring there yet or not. With this said it appears I have anywhere from a day or two to perhaps 2+ more weeks here on the Texas Gulf Coast! No oil here yet, or ever. Surfside beach about 3 miles from the job parking lot.

As far as when I will be able to complete work on the shells. I wish I could say I did last year, but I couldn't. When this one is over, the boss has him-hauled around on stating when/where the next job will be. This tells me I might be sitting at home for a month or two (+) where I can make these shells a reality at last. I have seen some awesome BNSF SD70ACe's in my frequent travels to jobs and I want one of these for my own collection!!! Massive Behemoths!!!!!

When this one is over I will comment to this thread an update!

I know it's not what you who are so patiently waiting want to hear, but it's all I have right now.

I will state this one more time. If you have pre-paid for one (+) SD70ACe shell, and want your $40 (per) refunded, please let me know. Already had one taker!!! I am currently in a position to do so. Wait and it might be too late!

I bought 3 Kato N Scale SD70ACe's a few weeks ago. I still need to DCC them, but I got the UP KATY, MoPac, and WP for a red, green ,and blue powered train. These are a great loco for Z Scale, and would have been a better choice for AZL to do than their regular SD70's due to more roadnames having them.

I agree, SD70ACe's are very nice.
