I had a trip to Hua Hin and felt bad for spending a lonely night in a hotel room; so I get to the railway station for a dose of night trains.

Train 39/40 was late due to a derailment that closed all main tracks near Bang Sue Jct.

Train 169 (Rapid, Bangkok-Yala) was also late.

I was sleepy so I retired to the comfort of the hotel room for the night. ZZZZZZZZ

    ------------

I woke up and had a meal then walk out for another dose of trains.

    another hot day out there.

Thanks. Nice pictures and looks like a good rail fan trip. Of course it is warm; it is perpetual summer there. Always a good place in Thailand.

    Thanks for the pictures.

Another clever idea for using old ties: turn them into benches. :tb-cool:

Train 911 (excursion, Bangkok-Suan Son Pradipat) arrived.

And the last shot for this trip is the train 911 taking the starter signal for departure.

Hua Hin station looks very nice!

What is the heritage of that steam engine?

That little steamer looks very American-like, even halfway around the world! A nice set of photos, especially of the station proper. I'm guessing this is in the country?

That is a very beautiful, and clean station. Even the steam loco is kept in good condition. Thanks for the pictures, you have a lot of great photogenic locations in your country. :)

The preserved locomotive is a 1925 Baldwin 2-8-2. builders number 58762 and given running number 305. Is is metre gauge.
There are at least three Balwin 4-6-2s left
1925 built Balwin 4-6-2 #226 down the line at Prachuab Khiri Khan. Builders no. 58612. I believe it is in the Wah Koh science museum .
1926 built 235 at Chumpon and 1928 supplied #233 at Hat Yai.
I plan to chase down and photograph all three next time I am out there

As far as I know, State Railway of Thailand (as well as Malaysian, Singapore and Indonesian Railroads) is 3' 1/2 gauge (1.067 meter).
