 :confused7xq: Hi folks. I've not been around for a week or so and very little over the past while, PC problems and eye problems.
As you know, I am a supporter of both the Board and Images and was happy to do so.
My thoughts are of the Blogs and the shoutbox,( whatever that is)
I enjoyed gleening info but so many places to search, are we losing interest in the threads?
I also question the cost of these extras.
Again, I am a supporter and only ask as a matter of sincere interest and constructive criticism. Thanks and Cheers to all.

    Valid concerns

Blogs, or Weblogs, are a sort of online diary of day to day things for the individual. Often this is details that are too in depth or to mundain for the thread. I personally am a slow reader and don't really have the time to read blogs, yet I have friends that love to read them. I would hope that Blogs are being used to suppliment the information people post in threads, not replace them. I have already seen one-line posts that say "see my blog for information...". My PERSONAL feeling on this is if it's not important enough to post in the thread why should I be distracted to look elsewhere for the information. At this time I do not maintain a RR blog but I feel it is a great feature for those that do, and I'm glad TRAINBOARD can offer members this service.
The Shoutbox isn't really a chatroom, but it works in lu of one. It's good for chit chat that doesn't really have a topic.
As far the software to run these it is generaly included in the bundle and the admins are just 'turning on' these features for use, (admins correct me if I'm wrong) and does not add aditional expense. An actual "chatroom" would be a seperate piece of software and as I found out it can get rather expensive.

    Good questions Joe.

I paid for the blogging software and I know it will be worth every dime. Trust me on that.

The shoutbox is a free script and it is still being evaluated. It is likely to disappear but may be replaced with something better in the future.

Thanks all, again, I really enjoy it here. I just wanted to air my thoughts. My contribution will be on the way shortly in the new year.
May I take this opportunity to wish all the staff and members a heartfelt wish for a great Christmass and a healthy and prosperous New Year. Cheers everyone and stay safe.
