So who has seen any F40s latelly? I know there aren't that many in service, I saw the first one in about 2 years up here on Saturday. The 315, it came to Seattle via the Empire Builder, and I guess they F59PHI for the Cascade set needed maint of something, so the 315 came up here. It is a very dirty unit, looks like it ran through a big pile of mud!

    Happy Railroading!

If you get around Seattle any you should see some F40s on the Starlight. Amtrak West now has 4(?) in Surfliner paint. Was on 593 last nite w/ 231 the Operation Lifesaver engine. Been some discussion of them on trainorders.com, but noone has said how many are actually left. Some(?) have been sold to other RRS e.g. Panama, CO Ski Train & some frieght RRs. Think MK has rebuilt some for commuter RRs.

F40's are still used on the Maple Leaf here in NY state. Interestingly, I've seen some from the very 1st group in the 200 - 229 #s within the last 2 weeks.

I added the 315 to #14 last week after we had set the 118 out at CMO. Our RFE said the 315 was headed for Alaska to be used up there for something. Have had the 231, 399, 381 and 415 in consits on the Starlight in the last few months.

315 was just dropped off the Cascades on Wendsday, or so I am told.... They just said it was an F40PH from Sat. to Wend. so I am assuming that it was the same unit. We just got our set of Talgos back....now we don't have to look at any of these silver and blue things anymore :D We still have the 465 for power, which means its still a Las Vegas Talgo unit :(

    Happy Railroading!
