Greetings to all, This is my first to this great site, wish I had gotten a computer years ago. I was hoping someone could supply me with pictures or sketches of an Amtrak coach repair/maintenance yard, track layout and buildings. Would be happay to pay for copies and postage. Thanks for any help.

I have some pics of the coach yard in Chicago
from the back end of the SW Chief back in the late 80's. If you want them, I'll be glad to scan them and e-mail to you

    Welcome to TrainBoard, John.

Sorry I can't help you with the yard pictures, but just hang on we've got lots of folks that know and have your info.
It reminds me of an old souther mayor who once said: "I don't know everything, but I got people on my staff that do".

Ron, thanks for the offer and I will most happily accept. Don't know if I'll ever be able to return the favor..... but you never know! Chis, thanks for the welcome, love your by-line.

    John,

if you click on this link, Chicago Yard , you will see a photo overlooking Amtrak's yard in chicago that I got when I was visiting the Sears Tower a few years back. This photo is also on my web site. I Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Andy. Gosh!, do you think ALL of that will fit on a 4x8 sheet of plywood? Can you say c-o-m-p-r-e-s-s-i-o-n? Just kidding. The photo will be a big help and your site is a great one, very interesting.

    John,
Thanksfor the compliments on my web site, it is still growing. [IMG] No I don't think it will all fit on a 4x8, unless you are modeling in N scale. [IMG]

The yard is on the south side of Union Station. This picture is facing south, so Union Station would be towards the bottom of the photo (which is actually north). I am not quite sure if the flat white roof-like thing that the tracks disappear under is part of Union Station or not.
