Is there some kind of connection, between Montreal, Maine & Atlantic, and Watco? Ex-BAR units showing up on Watco Companies everywhere. What does the MM&A use for power, after shipping everything out? Boxcab E50
From what I understand the Bangor and Aroostook went out of business a few years ago and sold off most (if not all) their locomotives. So WATCO likely picked up a bunch. The actual road numbers for the 4 GP38-3's here are 3824-3827, but they have not been patched, which leads me to believe they will be the first to be repainted when the locomotive shop is finished. Pat- BAR was acquired a few years ago, by an investment group out of Chicago. Headed by Ed Burkhardt. The same guy who started the Wisconsin Central. They renamed it the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic. And have several other short lines in that vicinity, which hook into the MM&A. Maybe they brought in their own power, and sold off the BAR stuff? Or maybe the BAR stuff went back to a leaser? Although the unit here has no leaser stenciling. Do those in your area show any lease markings? I wonder if Charlie has any ideas, since MM&A is in his back yard? Boxcab E50
Thanks for the info abotu the B&A, Boxcab. The only added markings has been "WAMX" added to the conductors side cab of 353, but no new numbers.
So one does have leaser markings. Interesting! Then I'll bet the others may be as well. Have you had a chance to talk with any of the crews yet? If anyone is friendly, maybe you can ask about the BAR units? Boxcab E50
Well, WAMX is the owner marking since all the SD50's are also marked WAMX. As a side note, 5106 and 5113 arrived almost 2 weeks ago and have been spotted, so that fills out the roster as far as I know for now, except for the class unit, WAMX 5100. If if exists, I don't know.
5100 came in over CSX and is Grafton waiting for pickup by the A&O as I type this. A loaded coal drag also is heading for Grafton, WV to pick up empty's and 5100.
