This should probably go under the "Lessons learned" thread. One, don't hold the airbrush too far away from the work, as this causes speckling. I didn't realize how bad it was until I sprayed the clear coat and it really sparkled. Two, Simple Green is a great way to strip Polly Scale paint if it hasn't fully cured yet. Luckily I'm back to bare brass and get to do it all over again.

Well, I finished the paint job on the Aspenmodel 4-6-0. The second airbrush job was much smoother than the first. She has been painted for Sierra Railway #3 (Ex. Prescott and Arizona Central #3). Although it isn't a perfect match, its as close to the prototype as anything available in N or Z. Removing the side-rods is necessary to repaint the wheels black. The side-rods were painted Grimy Black (Good suggestion Joe). The decals were from an N scale set that was made up a few years back as a forum effort. I had to make decals for the Rogers builder plates, using a black overlay over some gold rectangles from another set. Overall its been a very fun and rewarding build. Since shes still pullin trains to this day, it allows me to model any era from 1897 to the present in Z.
Well, you've convinced me. I've just ordered a French version of the DB38, as it comes with black wheels. Now I have to save up for the Aspenmodels kit. Oh, wait, I don't have any American rolling stock! Have to order some, I guess... Then some American buildings... And some autos... Then build an American layout... This is going to get expensive, fast. Ooohhhh, I'm going to have so much FUN!
