CSX 1992 (aka7812) southbound at Etowah TN November 1992. the plastic holder on the side of the cab was for the presidential seal. It was only placed in the holder when the engine was pulling a POTUS special and removed when it was not. Wish I could have caught it with the seal in place but this was my only encounter with this unit before she was returned to her regular CSX Hockey Stick paint scheme.

Thanks guys. During the 1992 presidential campaign between Clinton and Bush Sr., Bill Clinton did a whistle stop campaign tour along many CSX lines and this unit was chosen from units being delivered to CSX at that time. It was painted like this and carried the number 1992 on the number boards and front of the unit but I read that inside the cab, it had the number 7812 as that would have been it's as delivered number had it not been picked for this service. I saw pics where it was renumbered back to 7812 while still in this paint scheme but the unit was eventually repainted into a traditional CSX scheme for the time.

The AC6000's never really lived up to their billing but they sure looks sharp with the yellow lettering outlined in blue. CSX Tilford Yard Atlanta GA July 4, 1999

From 01/12/2013 on the former SAL at Lugoff, SC, Train 463 is 32 miles away from the end of its 113 mile run from Hamlet, NC to Cayce, SC. I wanted to get the Dispatcher's Phone box in a photo, as I knew it had a short future.

From 03/11/1995 on the former Clinchfield at Trammel, WV. The crew had invited my wife and I into the cab and when they got the signal, it was go time. He started to pull as soon as we hit the ground. Fun Fact: The final spike on the CC&O was driven here in 1915.

Up ahead is Sandy Ridge Tunnel, the longest on the road at 7,854 FT.

That is a great shot! Those SD50's looked great in that paint scheme. If that was a current pic and not from 1991, I'd be tempted to make a comment about it being a trainload of fuel for electric cars :D:D:D

So I almost bought the coal cars in a kit, but thought CSX did not pull them. Of course I have no idea, but then I see this. So now I can buy these, maybe :) As always you guys post CSX, my favorite for now, and I want it all :) Wow, it's a 8 car set too, of course!

Heading east through Rosenberg on February 22, 2015, the UP had assembled a dog's breakfast of power on a freight. Two CSX paint jobs. The CSX swapped out AC units between paint schemes on their GEs just like the BNSF. I suppose NS and UP did likewise but how would you know? ;) Anyone ever seen an NS unit with a Conrail Blue AC? Or a UP with an SP gray?
