Hi to all I bought this HO diesel accidentally (error in ebay n scale description). Could not return it. Turned out to have cracked drive gears. Well, I got mad and, since I had a lot of these great runners when I was doing "HO", I decided to fix it. I designed and printed a bunch of gears, and fitted up two in the front truck. The rear truck is fine. I am including a bunch of gears with the unit, as I have no need for them. The front truck had a crack in the retaining clip, which broke when I opened it to pull the gears. So, I put in a 1-72 brass screw to hold the truck together. Also, the idea of a single voltage-dependent bulb is so 19th century... so I added directional LEDs. See the pictures. I cleaned the truck gears and gear box with alcohol and relubed with LaBelle. It runs quietly with the shell off. A bit noisier with the shell on as the shell resonates a bit. Maybe add some internal sound damping in the shell?? The rear coupler needs attention, but I no longer have these springs. So, you get an like-new diesel for $40. Whoops, forgot to add the gears... hard to focus on the gears. The top two empty spots are the gears that I installed in the front truck.
