So when Rob Ray buys out your whole supply, that it? I'm actually glad to hear, for the sake of the scale, that these turnouts sold out. It shows that there is healthy demand for the product, and hopefully this will encourage Atlas to expand the line.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

So I decided to start snapping up the Atlas turnouts, and will use code 55-60 for mainline, then handlay some code 40 for industry and sidings. I think it might show better to have both code 55 and code 40.

I measured inside my 320sf train room and have usable space of approx 15.75' by 19.75' (4.75 x 6 meters), and am thinking I want an around the room layout with 2 small yards and lots of industries, so I will need lots of turnouts. I have accumulated over 100 tortoise machines and 100 Hare decoders, and I still have a couple dozen Peter Wright (these are bulletproof) turnouts.

Atlas also has direct sales, although MSRP. The Atlas sight shows both Turnouts In Stock (green). The crossing was on back order and supposed to be here about now, also the short rail joiners were also supposed to be here about now too.

Rob, did you talk to the 2 MAIN guys at the Atlas booth at NTS ? They had all the answers for you. And the will be ramping up more.

I got almost 80 ordered so far, going to deplete all reserves. :D Good fun! You know the Z Scale saying... If you see it, Get it...

At first I though that there are not enough rail-side structures in Z to support that many turnouts, then I remembered Rob is a laser structure master. I take it there are some new kits coming?

Yes, first of all, I made lots of kits for MTL, and I know whick ones were reordered. Every kit started as a much more detailed design that went through several revisions to simplify them down to meet the wholesale price target needed. I still have those higher end drawings. So I can mirror image them and instantly have a range of kits that look new to the uninformed.

Those and others I want to make for my home layout are planned.

Oh, I have also snapped up more turnouts too!

That's great news. I'd like to see some more of your work. I'm hoping there will be some things in the waterfront series of building you did for MTL. They are excellent designs and are perfect for kit-bashing and mingling. Boy, that's a lot of turnouts. I've got 3 each of Peter Wright's for a small module and then it will be Atlas only. I hope to pick up some tips a long the way. Jim

Atlas NOW has the SHORT rail joiners that come with the Turnouts. #2814, 24/pack.

I don't see them listed yet and hobby shop sites.

The sites that the Z joiners are the old SUPER long c55's from N scale (#2090)
Hopefully the LHS's will get the new proper ones (2814) in stock too.

I was wondering why all the joiners I bought were so long, I tried to use the Rokuhan joiners, but they are way too tight for Atlas track, and the Atlas joiners are way too long. I have not actually opened and used the Atlas turnouts yet, but will need them when I get the the adjoining Lester modules soon. (Next fall when model railroading season starts up again) (I got fishing camping boating fever right now!)

I was hoping they would sell those joiners. Even in N I used to cut the joiners in half so they didn't look so bulky. Now I can just buy these.

These have been out for some time now...at least two or three months. A certain well known e-tailer had them at one point, not sure if they do now or not. I had some in my cart in early Feb but the other items I was trying to purchase went poof before I could get the cart purchased so I just gave up...don't really need them that bad at the moment. Also saw a few crop up on "that auction site" during that same timeframe, although at a high price....seems like it was 1.5x MSRP or something.

EDIT: Yes, the aforementioned well known e-tailer still has them in stock.

No chance to use MTL joiners, even with widening them a little bit ?
