I've been researching D&RGW coal trains a lot recently (more like obsession than researcho_O). ATSF connected coal trains loaded and empty with D&RGW, and I'm looking for photos of the coal cars in particular. There's some on the 'net, but others from the early 80s are just unobtanium. Photos I seek are to be used to have custom decals made. I cut off my modeling period at 1983, so trains listed 1984 and after I'm not interested in.

This site has a lot of consist, origin/destination/routing and train number info for D&RGW coal trains, and is the basis of my research.

This album of coal gons and hoppers is also super valuable, but gaps exist. https://www.flickr.com/photos/photographernikon/albums/72157669125810681

ATSF Train 4466/4476 (D&RGW train 725/726): HG Coal at Hayden, CO to Pueblo then via ATSF train 4466 to Celanese Corp at King Mill, TX with 73 loaded cars marked SSIX and IPSX (Train 4476 empty)

I have searched high and low for SSIX photos of yellow coal hoppers. I found one, but no broadside detail (https://flic.kr/p/2iGoJGF). I have found black cars, but no detail shots (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=454236). The cars trailing in this last shot are these. The D&RGW groups.io group noted the SSIX cars of this style built by RTC in 1979 were later sold and remarked as CELX in the mid-80s (https://flic.kr/p/LQxcMr). I have yet to find a broadside shot of these unusual cars in SSIX reporting marks. I'm looking for data and drawings on this car in particular (the cars listed above at all Ortner 5-bay designs available in multiple scales), as I intend to draw it up and 3D resin print them.

I have also looked extensively for IPSX car detail photos, especially the Iowa logo and the smaller logo near it (https://flic.kr/p/LH6JPV). There's a photo of a new car that has no Iowa logo, but a small, different logo in in its place (https://flic.kr/p/Mpxykn).

Anyone have photos of these oddball cars?

    carrtracks.com is a great site!
Refered to it over the years, and the guy who runs it used to be local up here in Washington State when he was stationed at the Navy base over in Bangor, Wa.:D
