Hi Joe, 4-packs have a msrp of $118 and single units $36. CSXT is scheduled for January release. Sincerely,
I was just thinking how well these will look behind our new SD40-2 )...or the SP SD39-2's I'm grinding on. Joe
joe, we've all seen the shell pictured on the MTL link and the details look very nice. so how are you "grinding" the shell to get down to the 2 fans that are characteristic of 38s and 39s? are you replacing the side grills or just recentering the fans (with the removal of the 3rd) -- which it would seem to me would make the side grills a bit too long for the two fans (or maybe you aren't going to worry about that). inquiring (kitbashing) minds want to know. this news about making an SD39-2 (they were the same length as the SD40-2 i believe) wets all our appetites for new things to do with the SD40-2 shells to come. thanks, dave f.
Ok gents, step right up and place your order with Z Train Things now. Not sure what the final customer price will be, but you know it will probably be the best deal in town.
Good news! The SP Autoracks HAVE ARRIVED!!!! They will be shipped to Ztrack for distribution today. Expect them at dealers by the end of the week. -Rob(A) VP of Packing Tape and Chief Bubble Wrap Officer AZL
Nice ! Just in time for the September show. Finished reworking some area around the off-loading site and have some transport trucks to get ready (paint and re-paints + decals). .
Can't wait to order mine! About the SD39-2, when looking at Railpictures.net or Rrpicturearchives.net, I don't see any listed SD39-2. You find SD39s, looking like a (shorter) SD40 having lost one fan, but no SD39-2s on the opposite of SD38-2s and SD40-2s.... Dom
Dom, even though it doesnt say Dash2, you just have to look for Dash2 features. http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=98808
Sorry, ment the SD38-2...the SD39's were based on the SD40 and the wheel base is different I believe. http://espee.railfan.net/spsd38-2-m.html. All I'm doing is grinding off the fans, and adding new castings and the paper filter box mid span of the shell. There are other differences, but it looks the part and that's good enough for me! http://espee.railfan.net/nonindex/model_photos/2975a_sp-sd38-2-ken_perry.jpg Cheers Joe
i see that the auto racks are going to be recalled! too bad, they have been long anticipated. dave f.
Possibly some SD39s may have been upgraded to Dash 2 standards, as many SD40s were. That would produce a model number change, but they'd still look like short-frame, Flexicoil-truck SD39s.
anthony (z scale monster) sent an email update. here is the content of the message: "Unfortunately AZL has discovered a problem with this SP Autorack run. To keep up with AZL’s excellent Quality Control, this SP run (and the next planned) may be delayed by several months. If you still want to submit your order, to reserve your sets, just keep in mind they will be delayed by an unknown timeframe. It is unfortunate but these and any other AZL product must be kept up to AZL’s specifications as you would expect. Find the Autoracks at: http://www.zscalemonster.com/azl/autorack/ As soon as I get more information I will be sure to update the website and send out another news email." i was expecting an update from Rob as well. too bad it had to happen. dave f.
