Last night just before going to bed (it was 1.30 am!), we heard a train passing. As the last train on our line is 9 pm, we rushed outside to see a GBRf class 66 creeping slowly past with a string of autoballasters. Irene fetched my camera and by then the train had stopped, so I took a few snaps before it moved off again. It must have dropped some ballast near the front of the train as we saw none near us. Pics are rubbish, but it was quite exciting First one is straight off the camera.
Alan, interesting pics. i'll bet there were a few complaints by your neighbors about the noise in the middle of the night. beast
Actually Richard, it was very quiet near us, not sure if more noise was made further along the track if they were actually dumping ballast. Tends to make a bit of noise! If we had been asleep, I doubt we would have heard it.
Those Pics aren't rubbish. They are a good document of a late night event. thats a cool looking train. I bet your house was cheaper because it was by the train tracks, little did they know you'd pay extra for the trackage in the back yard. LOL I think you owe your wife some flowers or a box of chocolate for her thoughfulness.
that suprises me that it was that quiet, my mother-in-law lives about 60 yards from the old MKT main and unless you're dead asleep, you can always tell when the train comes through! lucky for us you were up!! beast
I think the unretouched photo is great...eerie, in a spooky sort of way. And the final one shows the "Monster from the Black Lagoon" slinking off into the night.
One of the reasons we bought the house was because it was by the tracks Yeah, she first ran upstairs and brought down her digital video camera, then I said I would like to try for some stills, so she ran back and brought my camera down. Good girl!
It was very quiet as the train was only travelling at a very slow walking pace, then it stopped right next to me. Giving me time to get some pics. On that line the jointed track would make a fast moving train somewhat louder!
Hank, it was kind of spooky to have those huge freightcars only a few feet from me in the dead of night. Luckily we had not yet gone to bed. (Our X-Box kept us up late)
My sister and her husband and I play halo against each other quite a bit. Believe it or not, my sister is lethal at halo.
My wife and I have played Halo and Halo 2 - twice each! They are superb games. We love the co-operative games like Halo, or Conflict: Desert Storm and Desert Storm 2. Trouble is, we do have some rather late nights, as they are addictive!
Ha Ha The worse thing about internet and computer game addiction is that it really cuts into real life things such as... Model railroading.
You never said what game. Still Vietnam? I've been playing lots of Call of Duty lately, as well as elite force holodeck. Both are horrible addictions for me.
