Now that summer is here I want to continue my large scale plans. I just found a used Bachmann 4-6-0 with full valve gear and want to convert it to battery & Rc control with not track power. I have the RC parts / batteries needed , but does anybody know what kind of amps this thing can pull with a train? Need to make sure I get a beefy enough speed controller so the magic smoke does not come out. Plan on doing some kitbashing then paint and weathering.
There are at least a couple of different versions of Bachmann 4-6-0. I have an old (cheap) version, and although I can't tell you what it's drawing, I'm running it off a Bachmann powerpack that is rated at 1000Mh with no issues.
