Sorry i haven't been here much but my nephew is having health issues. He is in the hospital and, i am not sure when or if he will get out. He could die if they can't get a handle on the infections. He is in isolation. Guess we will see... I have worked on the layout some. I was able to finish the rest of the houses. I got all the trees i ordered in and started planting them. I have some of the ground cover down and most of the trees but have a bunch left to plant. I really like how its turning out. A couple of shots below, smoke
Sorry to hear about your nephew's serious health issues. I will include him in my prayers. The grass and trees look great.
Here is a couple of more shots of the mountains. Still have a few more trees to plant and some grasses to get finished. I shot some low level pics of the layout. I think its really starting to look like a forest. Later, Smoke
Last photos of the mountain scene with logging camp. The lake is white yet. It should be back to dark green later this week. The rest should be done the track cleaning is next and then to run a train on it!! Catch you later one and all, Smoke
I haven't been around for awhile. Been having a mess around here. Only update i have is i got three engines for a good price. Two of the atlas shays, new. Newest run of them. Have to dcc them yet. And i got a Bachmann 4-6-0 with dcc on board. Now if i can find a 2-8-2 i would be so happy. Want something from C&O around the 1920's era. I waited months for shays so i can wait on this. Shots of my new fleet below. Keep in mind a logging layout don't need a bunch of engines on it. I have four and maybe down the road another shay or two and that 2-8-0 should fill my needs.
Yep. I haven't done anything to the layout lately. I got all three engines and i am not able to figure out how to add dcc to them there shays! I am getting someone to do them for me. That 4-6-0 has dcc installed and seems to be a good runner. I need to change the coupler and its ready to rock and roll. Now if i can feel good enough to clean all the track so the engines can run.
Wow, Can't believe its been 2+ years since i was here last. Hadn't done anything to this layout, and i gave up on this it. Just couldn't make it work. Am starting up a new layout with some of the old plan but different for sure. I saved the sawmill, Housing and logging camp. The trees and the track too. I watched how Fifer cleaned his track when he tore up his old layout. That really helped with the turnouts! I got some of the track with the old cinders showing from the paint used. Plan to paint to match as close as i can the track and add Kato ballast. I think i am gonna start a new thread for the new layout. Have some really good engines for the layout now. Got rid of all the steam engines. Going with old Diesels from late 30's to mid 40's. A couple have sound even. Lots of fun for sure. Anyway so much for this thread.
