Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani by train (*56k Harzard*) On 2/7/2007 I went to Ubon Ratchathani to visit my relatives I decided to try a daytime rapid train and this is the results of the trip. Enjoy. I arrived to the Bangkok station with time to spare and snapped a pair of Ex JR-West coaches bound for Cha Cheng Sao around 0650 we departed bangkok.
and made a little stop at sam sen Ahhh, my kind of school. then we had to lop one loco that was deadheding to Bang Sue shop off our train, that delayed us for 10 mins.
and met a commuter train bound for BKK. we hit the Rang Sit station which is beginning of 3MT territory
we passed chiang Rak station and its share of old boxcars we had a stop at Ban Pha chi Jct I decided to buy some ice cream, unluckily, when the hawker was abou to let me get my treats the train moved, so I had to tell him to stop. He also lose a bit of his balance and spilled his merchandise on his head.
and departs for Kaeng Khoi Jct section gang do their works to keep trains rollin'along we are at Kaeng Khoi Jct and I began worrying about stalling on the hill.
the loco is giving all his guts trying to yank 14 passenger coaches up the hill. At Hin Lap station we pass a big bunch of cement hoppers of one cement plant nearby waiting to be hauled we departed Hin lap, unfortunately, our loco couldn't give more ponies to carry us up the hill. the engineer try to bring the train up again twice but, no luck; we'd better wait for a helper.
finally, with the combined guts from a CM22-7i and a Hitachi diesel-electric loco, we can depart Hin lap and make way to Pak Chong station.
we are now at Pak Chong and give the helper crews a farewell. hmmm, speed limits and speed limit warning galore.
