I have always liked the Belmont Shore Club layout and the way the main line makes you feel as though you are going somewhere as you move through the scenery. Along the right of way are several bridges that really enhance the scenery of the layout. Most of them are scratch built. Some are recently constructed and some come from earlier layouts built 25 years ago. These are pictures of these bridges that I have enjoyed so much for many years as a member of the Belmont Shore Club. They are not so large as some models, but are just good models that fit the scene. This first bridge is near Saugus and is a dry creek bed. Three black widow GP9s accelerate to gain speed for the ascent to Echo. I am on a dial up connection for a few days. More when I can get the time. Another dry bed built as an aqueduct up in the Sierra Nevada hills. Looks like it will really soak up the next rain! Another view: [ December 14, 2005, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Flash: I like the first photo with the three black widow GP-9's(one of my favorite diesels). Stay cool and run steam.....
Here is one...from the East Valley Lines one of their friendly Nscale Clubs competitors...over at Griffith Park in Los Angeles...about 30 miles north of Belmont Shores...
Belmont Shores and East Valley Lines have had layout repairs from time to time. I remember the EVL allowing us BSL guys (and gals) to operate on their layout for the down times. Much appreciated and thanks to the EVL club.
Another shot of Belmont Shores bridges - this one on their N Trak module which is usually on display on the ground floor: (taken in May 2004) Beautiful, isn't it?! (smile)
That is a beautiful bridge (picture, too)! But...where is it? Somewhere along the California coast, I heard, and north of Santa Barbara. I know it's not Gaviota because I have seen that. The thing is that this is from the beach side and that side is rarely seen by visitors to the bridge. Thanks for the picture, John.
Wow - what a gorgeous scene. I'm not sure which one is cooler - the railroad bridge or the highway bridge. That scene just screams CALIFORNIA! Nice looking backdrop also.
