Any one know how far it made it yesterday? got all my gear with me to make a mad dash to shoot it. Steve
From the report by Odyssey on the previous page, it sat in La Junta yesterday and will do so again today. Leaves tomorrow for Pueblo and into Denver Friday.
Sounded like they left La Junta today and I'm guessing that they might make Pueblo today then maybe to the Big-lift south of denver Thursday and on into Denver on Friday. I'm ready to take pictures. Steve
At first thought it doesn't seem possible for only one poor old diesel to even move all that load, much less start it rolling from a dead whoa! But it is only 800 tons plus the weight of the Schnabel, so really IT isn't as bad a handling a 8,000 ton train of coal cars. It just looks enormous and like it should have five or six diesels on the front and a couple or three more pushing to get around curves without string lining! It would sure make a good movie for Pentrex. I would buy a copy if it showed the loading, travel, and unloading.
This would certainly qualify as "most interesting load" to be seen in 2005. Would be fun to see them going through all the appropriate gyrations, from start to finish. Boxcab E50
April 13 Train status. Will stop in North Pueblo today and reach North Colorado Springs tomorrow with Denver/Commerce City arrival sometime Friday as planned.
This would certainly qualify as "most interesting load" to be seen in 2005. Would be fun to see them going through all the appropriate gyrations, from start to finish. A professional quality video is being made of the reactor fabrication and transport from Venice Italy to the Suncor refinery site. If there is enough interest I can see if it will be made available to the public. Boxcab E50 </font>[/QUOTE]
Odyssey, do you have any idea or guesses as to what time the train will saunter up the joint line in the urban Denver area? For example, Bellevue or Evans stations...
The train is scheduled to depart Monument early on the 15th, and arrive at the refinery the afternoon or evening of the 15th. The arrival time will depend upon the time it takes to get through the Denver Rail Yard. Odyssey
Well I hope someone knows where the train tied down tonight. Now I know there are a lot of places that can not be seen however I just drove all the way to South Academy exit on then back North past Palmer and I never saw anything so I hope the consist was hidden some where. Well actually we did see 4 south bound coal loads, and one manifest and 2 empty coal loads going North. One of the south bound coal loads had gone into emergency right north of Palmer Lake and when we drove by you could see where the coupler had probably snapped. I'm going to hopefully head south AM Friday. Got to catch this thing somewhere.
E-Mail me when you find out the cost of the movie, Please. Tell me who to make the check out to, and for how much. I'll need an address to send it to. (I never use credit cards, always a personal check.)
I was told via a private email tonight that it tied down for the night in Monument (south end) and should be leaving Monument about 8 am for trek up to Denver. Route: Is up Santa Fe to the 20th street yards.
Well I found it this morning along with all of the others. What a sight. I must have drove right past last night. I have some good shots will get them posted tonight. They are supposed to be in Denver by this afternoon then according to the Project manager that I talked to Denver PD is going to shut down Brighton Blvd at 1800hrs to move and unload. The vessel is an amazing piece of work. Its 7" thick and is used to remove sulfer from fuel to make it enviromentally safe. From what I learned today that CEFX 800 has not been on the rails since 1993. There is aproximatly 1,000,000lbs of force holding the vessel in place on the car! Steve
been watching this on one of the yahoo groups and i made the comment that it would be lucky to be delivered by tax day, looks like i was pretty close! this crazy thing has almost inspired me to try and do some scratch-building, still trying to ponder it though..... beast
