After lots of metal and steam another MTL kitbash, built for Volker Toepfer:
    - stretched GP35 chassis
    - front GP35, rear SD40-2 shell
    - new railings
    - shorten SD40-2 tank
    - "Laundry chute" blower intake
    - modified dynamic brake blister
    - Beacon
    - Snow plow
    - usual super detailing
    - "Tiger Stripes" paint scheme and weathering

nice kitbash! I like the tiger stripes and the cooler chute. D&RGW also had this road number for a GP40-2.

I love it! Very impressive. Now, how about a white face scheme!

    Pretty neat!

If you want to help the appearance of the model over the trucks, 0.040" styrene is about right to space out the sideframes. MTL made everything wide except the trucks so it looks a little more proportional if you bump them out a bit. Not perfect, but easier than thinning the hood width!

    Hi Mike,
I looked into this before, but I was the opinion putting them on a distance makes same too fragile

FYI, the decals on the left (conductor) side of the loco are incorrect, the logo should be first then Burlington Northern spelt out. The engineer side is correct, both sides the logos are the same. Logo should be to the viewers left when viewing.

Hi Minzemaennchen, and congratulations, that's awesome as usual! But wouldn't have been easier (same lenght) and more accurate (width) to use an AZL GP38-2 for that?

The customer gets what the customer wants.
On the other hand many of my details are designed for MTL locos and wont fit on AZL locos without rework anyway . Taken all this into account it really doesn't matter.
