Got to catch a pair of empties going through with just quick crew changes, Followed by the second one to enter, leaving first. Then my camera memory got full, dang. So, I got pics of the DPU!
I like that alpenglow in the background. Blue hour is my favorite time to shoot (that and golden hour)!
Had a good train catching day Thursday, an empty oil can headed east after a loaded grainer came in. Only hiccup was my memory card ran out, so had to make a run back to the pickup! The oil can left with his ditch lights off! Ooops!
This morning there was some interesting power in town, our 40's, Coal train power, colorfully, And a soon to be extinct 'Belle. The "permanently disabled" item is where the mainline refueling station used to be. The SF disabled it rather than have the flexibility of using it. Which would have required re-hiring half a dozen laborers to do that job 7 days a week. Silly, ain't it?
Caught the same coal train twice yesterday on the way home from Billings. The first catch was at Terry, just before sunset, Then an hour later, I was fortunate to get a short shot of the headend leaving town eastbound,
Had a few fun shots, the BN 6357 now bnsf 1964, The Miles City local waiting for it's crew, An un-vandalized BN, 4750 hopper, And another awaiting wheels.
Not Glendive, but almost! Wibaux when on my way back from Dickinson, ND. Chased him past Beach, ND and just got to Wibaux in the nick o' time! Got to Glendive about ten minutes before he rolled in, and then drifted down into the yard on 2 or 3 track.
