Slid through two intersections yesterday! The big old van is only 2WD and is hard to stop. So, today was the 4WD pickup. Slick stuff, but oh so purty!! Didn't have time to get any pics of snowy trains today, maybe tomorrow!
Ooops! This morning this power was put on the point of a train, mixed freight, then........ Later in the day, the lead unit got swapped around! Why? Best guess is radio, heat or dpu issues. Yes, it was COLD today!
Yeah, kind of Alco-ish, but still, another EMD. Just a kind of ugly locomotive, IMHO. But there are a lot of them around!
And here's a lost NS SD70ACE. Went on a quick trip to Billings and always stop at Forsyth for gas at the Watering Hole, where I stood and got this video while pumping gas into the car. It's a treat to get an occasional run by while pumping! Also caught another couple of trains, but not close enough or at the right time. Still, it was a real purty day with the sun shining off the snow!
That's the Desert Storm support Cab. Was painted here to go with SD-60M 1991. These guys here do all they can to keep it captive.
The heavy snow here lately makes for a nice contrast to the pumpkins! In the second video clip, the far train cuts off the near train! I don't know what was going on, but both were powering hard right up til the near train did a quick stop as the other moved over into it's way! I thought for sure there was going to be a crunch!
No stripes on the 5004 long hood, just imagine the whole unit without those-it'd be a Great Northern "Simplified Scheme" from the mid-60's!!
I have always wished that BNSF would do a few units in each of the predecessor road paint jobs. These are already pretty close to GN, but what about the NP? SP&S? Frisco? Etc?
Our snow ended today, for now. But I managed to find some good trains today. Saw more, but couldn't get them on the camera. This guy ias the DP unit on the end of a grain train What you can't see is that the front of it is across the river near the wye. This is the Sidney branch where it crosses Bell St. by Kmart. I tried to get closer to these, but this is the best I could get. A couple of lost units from the east heading back that way. And then some more snow bound units. Icicles and snow all over!
