I received e-mail confirmation that on 9/25/14 "Congratulations! You have met the requirements of the pre-employment medical and background review processes! We believe you will make an excellent addition to the BNSF team! This letter is to notify you of your projected start date of 12/15/2014 to join BNSF Railway as a Conductor Trainee - Lincoln, NE....."

    I have 2 questions...
    1. As of 10/8/14, I've noticed online that there are 35 conductor trainee positions being hired for 1/12/15 for Lincoln. Does that mean that they are moving the date of my class (33 positions) that was to begin 12/15/14?
    2. As of 10/8/14, there are 5 conductor trainee positions available in Omaha being hired for 1/12/15. Can I apply for those also while waiting for my class to begin in Lincoln or will that automatically take me out of contention for Lincoln?

Going crazy waiting! Plus, I'm trying to make housing arrangements as I don't currently live in either area but do live within the state of Nebraska.
    :eek:hboy:

They want you for Lincoln. If you want to work out of Omaha, wait until your student status and "derail" period(probationary period)has ended and then try to transfer to Omaha. You will keep your seniority from Lincoln. As of this point in time, you are not in a real good position to be bargaining. It looks to me as if they want you for Lincoln ASAP. The largest %age of my conductor class was for Lincoln. Us few Chicago guys were still working qualifying trips out of Cicero Yard when the guys from Lincoln were making the big bucks working the coal trains out of Lincoln. Our student period went from the last week of September until mid-March of the next year when we took the AMTRAK rules exam and we were allowed to mark up on whatever board had openings.

    Work safely!

The answer to your first question is once you pass your conductors test you can bid to where ever you want to work to a point, from a line at Lacrosse WI to Greybull Montana. You can go where ever your senority will take you south of that line(system wide senority) with exception of the former Santa Fe side they have a hold down to the point you hire out for 3-5 years. Your letter means your start date The answer to your first question that is for a new class. Don't go crazy yet, you'll have the next 30 years to do that.;)
