If anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area is interested, there are five or six very shiney passenger cars parked in BNSF's Richmond, Ca. yard right off of I 580. They've been there since Friday afternoon. I wish I could stop and take a few photos, but I'm in the semi and might get asked some questions by the company. lol

They do have more than just those few you spotted. I believe the fleet is a mix of heritages. Would need to know which cars are in that batch.

This does not answer your question, but is a neat video:

I know there is a super dome "Glacier View" which is a former GN car. Alot of BNSFs cars are named after places on the RR, such as one car "Stevens Pass". However, there is one that I saw once at the east portal of Stevens Pass that was named "Snoqualmie Pass" which as many know was the former MILW ROW.

Somewhere I have pictures of each passenger car on the train I saw on Stevens Pass several years ago. I ended up catching it at Sunset Falls on a beautiful summer afternoon.

Wow, Boxcab! That is a very cool video. Thank you for posting that. It reminds me of why I love trains. The cars I see in Richmond are all regular cars, none of the Super Domes. I wish I could get close enough to get the names, but they are beautiful at night under the lights.

That is a nice video Boxcab!
I did notice one thing at the end, the trip going thru Lawrence KS, it sounds like the car has a tad of a flat spot on a wheel(s). Not a cool thing to have on a business train! LOL

Dunno who posted that video, I had stumbled upon it quite by accident. It says Part II, so maybe looking for Part I would be added information.

A trip I made on the Empire Builder, back in 2008, there was a small flat spot on a wheel. It was right under my compartment, and like sitting atop a machine gun for all those hours.

If you ever want a wild ride, ride on a coach that has a truck doing "truck hunting", shake you up like a well mixed martini! That would happen on the commuter coaches more frequently than desired. We had one on a train that had such bad truck hunting that we moved the passengers to other coaches and reported it that morning when we yarded the train. They pulled the coach out of service. The truck hunting is caused by the wheel tread being out of proper taper.

That same trip, the train (#7) was late arriving due to delays. One was flooding in Wisconsin. Another some extra switching to add several private cars in Spokane. A couple more due to BNSF traffic, one being a work train late getting out of the way. They were pushing it any chance possible. We really sailed around the loop at Foss River, and in the flatlands were flying. Between Everett and Seattle, along the waterfront of Puget Sound, are numerous curves. The speed was causing the hunting effect. Trucks were banging against the outer rail, and the whole car would jerk back toward the opposite side, then back out again, bang, repeat, repeat. Good scenario to derail. A rough ride, being snapped so quickly back and forth. And I doubt they gained as much as five minutes in that final segment.
