Wow! Just wow! Everything looks stunning in the light! Do you know what temperature is the lighting you selected?
MK, Thank you for your compliment!!! I'm not sure what the temperature is, will ask when I return the bad strand this afternoon. Joe
Thank you Richard and Bill for your compliment!!! I exchanged the bad light and installed it last night. The lights have an adhesive back but decided to use zip ties instead. I put a spot of hot glue on the bottom of overhead valence and put a tie in it, then put more glue on top. Didn't pull the ties tight, I left about a half inch loop. This afternoon I'm going to paint the background with Gesso to seal the Masonite and let them dry for 24 hours. Joe
Thank you guys, I really appreciate it. I'm getting ready to apply Gesso to all of the background panels.. Joe
I painted the background panels with first coat of Gesso right before sunset. The last one was hard to see because it was getting too dark. Nothing really to show with photos, they need a second coat. Joe
Finished the second coat of Gesso on background panels and will paint the sky tomorrow afternoon. Also going to Gesso the fascia on modules 05 and 06 shortly after, going to cut fascia and Gesso for modules 01 thru 04 and 07. Joe
Cynthia and I put the background back up to mark scenery details and going to paint the sky this afternoon. Have two colors of blue, one light and the other is darker. Also this afternoon will use Gesso for modules 05 and 06, will cut fascia and Gesso for modules 01 thru 04 and 07. The fascia will be painted forest green on layout and light blue for fascia on overhead valence. Joe
I didn't get to paint the background sky yesterday. One of the backgrounds goes in front of window and no place to attach it so I cut module 05 shorter and cut a longer one for modules 06 and 07. Currently painting the sky and had to take a break for a few minutes. I have a couple of photos that have the Sun and Moon, will post them in my next post. They are pretty cool and the Sun will go on module 04 and Moon on 05 on the right side. Joe
Here's the photos of Sun and Moon. It's raining so all outside painting is on hold but will use Gesso on the fascia and overhead valence. Joe
The rain has stopped so I can paint outside after dinner. After that will go to Lowe's for a quart of forest green for the fascia. The Moon will be about the same size as one in photo. Joe
Late last night I drilled and countersunk for more screws on fascia and overhead valence. The countersink cage is used in aircraft assembly and has a nut you unscrew and then lift collar to change depth in 0.001 increments. Next project was applying Gesso to modules 05, 06 and valence. The fascia on layout will be forest green and valence fascia dark blue. Thinking about the design of a HO layout on top of overhead valence set in 1920's possibly Frisco in Enid OK. It's 14 inches wide and about 28 feet long and has a Wye at one end and a loop at other. Will have to be a bump out to make it possible and DCC control. Do you guys have any suggestions? Joe
This afternoon and evening painted the layout fascia forest green and overhead valence the darker blue. Once again wasn't able to paint sky, will try again tomorrow morning, don't know of anything to get in the way except life. Tomorrow afternoon going to Hobby Lobby to purchase another bottle of Gesso, most panels required three coats as well as color paints. Joe
