I'm very excited to announce that Athearn will be announcing our first Athearn Genesis N scale freight car. The official announcement will be made today at 3:30pm CSDT on our Facebook and Youtube Live Stream. These will be 13K Acid Tank cars and will feature details not commonly seen in N scale such as shelf style body mounted couplers, brake details and details specific to the cars era. The first run will feature cars of the 1990's and 2000's. You can find out more by tuning in or going to athearn.com. I'm pretty excited by this and I hope a lot of you are as well.
Like I said elsewhere, this is gonna hurt my wallet. Now, are you going to sell the couplers separately? In say a ten pack?
Ha, yeah I hear ya! Most of us at Athearn are modelers so we all have that trouble depending on what we announce. Regarding the couplers, no plans as of yet but it may be worth looking into if there is a market for it.
modern n scalers would love double shelf couplers. The HO guys have a Sargent version - we have wishes and dreams . . . .
Wow Jim, those are some very impressive models on our N Scale horizon. I've been in N for 50+ years, but have owned only two cars with body-mounted couplers. Will these new Genesis cars operate on my 11.1" (282mm) Kato Unitrack curves? The only other body-mount coupler cars I have are Eastern Seaboard Models 50' Boxcars and they run well on my curves. Thank you.
