Thanks! When this is complete I have decided to attempt a scratch build of a fire tower. This will be my model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Today we started scenery. My mountain is lookin like a mountain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
My layout is now connected in a full circle. I need to make three cuts so the swing level will swing down. I used flex track so hope all goes well that ends well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Ugh I gotta rethink this grade. Got a small hump to get rid of. When testing cars they came uncoupled. Also to get the grade to work, I used a 2% rise then a few inches down I added another 2% on top to get a 1 inch rise in about 3 feet. Longer cars don't like that rise. Got some more mountain done today while waiting for glue to set. Ran out of supplies. Also found a spot that I need to take a dremel to and rework a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
That's quite a short jump. Getting to 2% in 36 inches? I can see why there's a bit of a glitch. A two percent grade would be 2 inches rise in 100 inches of travel.
Right so I tried to fudge it a little. Didn't work too well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Actually what I did was two 2% grades stacked on top of each other. What would happen if I separated them by ab out 1-2 feet? Hmm time to rip up track Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Ok track ripped up. Upon measuring I had it set up 29" to Get to 1 inch. Too tight of a rise. The car started up fine but bonded due to it spanning the flat , skipping over the the first 2% and being on the second 2% part. I have two other options. 1. Take first part of the 2% rise all the way back to a 36" start with the second starting at the same place this will lengthen the hill and make it not so steep to start. 2. I have a 7.5 curve switch involved, by utilizing half the switch (the part without the moving parts on the slope it would lengthen the slope to 45-46" in length. But hills are so much fun. Actually I think I have it figured out. However I won't be able to work on it until Thursday at the earliest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
