Nice work - I was getting a little nervous a while back (just after you meticulously painted your rails). The rails looked great and all of a sudden there were these droppings of white plaster on your ties and all. I thought - why did he go through all that hard work and not cover the track with tape. However it all turned out in the end - looks great.
Sculptamold is a bit tougher as it's really a form of paper marche. There are fine paper-like fiber material mixed in it making it like "reinforced" plaster. Because of the fiber it takes much longer to dry. When I use it I give it 3 days to thoroughly dry. Also because of the fibers you can not get as smooth of a surface as plaster. Plaster can give you the smooth rocks, thus the mixed usage between the two.
I covered it. Most of the spots came from after I moved to the next section and then saw something and did the old I'll just fix that quickly routine.
Using Woodland Scenics Smooth-it I made driveways and walkways for the house along the road. Using Sculpta-mold I also smoothed out some rough areas.
I added some Fine Leaf Foliage, fine Foliage and Clump Foliage around the tunnel portal. I repainted the areas I had to fix or Smooth-it got on.
I have begun to plant trees! I amusing Woodland Scenics’ Pine Trees that I made, clump foliage, foliage, and fine leaf foliage.
Time to revive the mountainside layout construction. First thing I worked on was the wall for the blue house. I carved the mortar lines with a razor knife. Next I painted the wall with Folk Art Light Gray. Then using a brush I dabbed on the following colors in order (all Folk Art): • Barn Wood • True Burgundy • Dark Gray • Raw Umber • Settlers Blue. Then I did it a second time in the same order. Next I went over the wall with a wash made from one part Raw Umber and one part blue windshield washer fluid. After that dried I went over with a wash of one part Linen and one part blue windshield washer fluid. This time I wiped off the wash before it dried.
