What do they use for power on their business train these days? Do they still have refurbished F units? Boxcab E50
What is this used for? Or is it just a restoration in private hands. http://rrpicturearchives.net/pictures%5C11946%5CKCS%2034.JPG
I believe that unit is being readied for display at the restored KC Union Station project. Might have actually been an ex-C&NW motor? Or am I thinking of another effort........ Boxcab E50
You may be right about that- any rate, that was also the passenger colors on the E units, IIRC, before they simplified, and even went to (gasp) white on one or two Es
Mopman posted the picture of past and most current power of the business train. Right now they are parked in the yard right next to the Christmas train. I'm sure it will make another trip or two before it goes out on tour with the Christmas train for the volunteer crew. It's time I stopped fiddling around, MAKE SAME DAMN TIME and joined the KCS Historical Society like I've been anting to for the last couple years but have been so busy being racked up in other matters.
Yea. I know a few people who work on the Christmas train who happen's to be in our club. I hear some down fall's to the B. train though like showers. One minute to scrub up and one minute to rinse off. One of our ex club member's got banned from KCS property because he crossed over a main line and got on the B. train without permission. There were some hot headed people that night over that little issue. Don Kimmel, one of the elves on the Christmas train played a big part of building the the layout in the box car. He's always at show's looking for new stuff to add to it. He's a pretty good guy. I'm tyring to work my way into volunteer for the Christmas train but there's a lot of stuff you have to go through to get there. I figured sense we set up a show for the Kid's at Shriners Hospital, we are doing a good deed. Well, why not the same as for the Christmas train.
Lol. Somehow you saying that reminds me of one of our club member's who is a retired structural design engineer who designed the whole GM complex here in Shreveport before he retired. He played Santa one year at a place called The American Rose Center where our club stayed setup for a whole month and ran at night while the park was open and covered in xmas lights. He hated it 0o0o0 did he hate it because some kid gave him a hard time. He never volunteered to do it again although he does pass for the part very well do to his looks. We still have a good chuckle about it every year.
