Can one "convert" a MagneTraction loco to traction tire? I have a few Lionel steam locos that are MagneTraction and they just spin their wheels going up grades when pulling my train cars. I also have a few newer locos with traction tires, and those locos seem to pull the train cars right around the track without difficulty. So, I got to thinking, why not just throw a traction tire onto the locos with MagneTraction and ....

Well, is this even possible? Can it be done and would it help?

    Thanks,

It may be possible. You'd need the replacement wheel to be the same diameter, and able to press onto the same axle. Also, you'd need the same mounting ability for attaching side rods, etc.

You might check around. Maybe an authorized service center would know. I'd swear that one of the collecting or operating groups, (TCA?), has headquarters in York(?), PA.

It might require a little time to dig up an answer. But surely someone will know.
