Here are a couple of lousy photos I just took of Carlos' amazing assortment of 40-50's vehicles. As previously stated by Robert they are the best I have seen. There was no prep work needed to get them ready. I primed them with Tamiya grey primer and then used spray paint from cans to paint them. Masking them was a challenge. Like all 3-D objects there is a good side and a bad side. Some the front looks better than the rear. It is all about how they are displayed. Carlos was nice enough to throw in an extra one. I have jut ordered everal more of his offerings. I can now top complaining about the lack of automobile in z-scale.. These are the best. Thanks, Carlos. Jim
You did a very good job painting them Jim! I heard Carlos has 3 more new trucks from that era, which is my era too! I like to try and order about 20 pieces at a time, so I can do any extra alcohol cleaning needed, gluing together of any broken fine detail, and then priming as a batch project. I tend to paint small batches of all on body color at a time.
Great work on the paint! Will you be handing out trophies at this mini car show you are putting on ??? Indeed, Carlos’ vehicles are fantastic.
Thanks, Robert. I did all of them in a 2 day period. I have a few more kits on the way. His stuff is great and quite the variety. The auto carrier also comes with 4 vehicles. It is 5 pieces for $30.00. I think I ordered the trucks you are talking about. I have added "license" plates to most of them. Some are going to get a cat whisker antenna when I get around to it. I've been swamped at work and model in 2 day bursts. Such as it is. Jim
Yes, I have that car carrier as well. Fantastic piece and a must have for any layout. OH, and well noted on the license plates Jim. Good tip. Although I feel for your cat, volunteering it's whiskers for the sake of antenna's. Oh well, no sacrifice is too small for the good cause of realism in Z-scale.... I just reached out to Carlos to join the forum as well, and this may give us an opportunity to make requests for additional vehicles. We will see if he joins. I have exchanged emails with him in the past. Great guy.
No cats are harmed in the process. My wife is always on the look out for them when she vacuums. I have 5-6 of them in a jar. And they are white. A silver marker and presto, an antenna. I can get a dozen from one whisker. Jim
The license plate on the two-toned Chevy nomad is "Waitress Wanted" from an n-scale decal. The front says waitress and the back says wanted.
