Imagine if PBS had radio stations everywhere throughout the USA. Well that is what the CBC is to Canada. Interestingly enought, the CBC (radio and TV) and its origins, is in the CN.

Many moons ago the execs of CN thought it would be good to pipe music into their first class parlour cars. So after much deliberation, it was decided that small radio stations along the line could broadcast the music and the parlour car would pick up the signal. In fact, the first hockey game ever broadcast of the NHL was on this small, cross Canada network. The government took this small network over and expanded it throughout Canada, including our far North.

The CBC has created a special train (with specially painted engines) to cross Canada and will broadcast from it. Now when have they done this in the USA? This event starts about a week from now. Follow the link I have provided.

The reason I chose CN to post this item to is that the line is following the old CN passenger line (that the Super Continental rode over). So I decided CN was the best place to post.

The train leaves this coming Saturday, today is Thursday 5 Sept, at 1900 hrs (7:00 PM) from the Via Station in Vancouver, BC.

Apparently the train will take a month to cross Canada, broadcasting from all the different locations. For those of you into Air Farce, they will be crossing the country with the train so you will get to meet them.
