Very cool! It's one of the new GP15s or GP20s (Don'r yet know the spotting features between them)! I hope we start seeing more of those around. THey're based on the old Morrison Knutsen MK1200G design, but EMD bought the rights when MK got out of the train business. Wish to hell someone would do a model of them in plastic!
Oh Boy ... now we have another shape to get used to. This one looks like a caterpillar with big eyeballs! Although I assume the engineers would like the better visibility all around. [ 02 June 2002, 13:14: Message edited by: Hank Coolidge ]
Actually, Hank, now that you mention it, it IS a caterpillar! Despite being built by EMD, the GP15 and GP20 have Caterpillar diesels in them, marketed under license from Cat. Sooner or later a railroad is going to get some of these and still have the original GP15s or 20s on the roster, then we'll all be confused. I have to say that I for one really wish they hadn't decided to re-use model numbers!
