Hi everyone, this is a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone could either give me some CGW Great Western Limited Consists from the 40's-60's, or point me in the right direction to find some that that information.
I'll see what I have. The era I model, the trains just have numbers (well actually they were all discontinued), but I think the Mill Cities Limited is train #6. If so, I should be able to help somehow. I don't know if there were other 'Limited' name trains or not. I'll have to see if I have any old timetables. Jason
I only have a couple of public timetables. Number 155 of October 1, 1957 shows un-named trains 5 and 6, 13 and 14. No help seen as to consists. My other issue pre-dates (1929) the era specified and shows some "Limited" names plus information. Probably too early? I have a 1939 Official Guide which lists a little information, if useful?
Just found out that the Great Western Limited was later called the Legionnaire, then the Minnesotan, Which arrived in Chicago as Train number 2, so I would think the northbound would be train #1? I hope that helps you guys target any information you may have
I scanned a page which might help, a little bit? This is from the August, 1939 Official Guide: http://www.train-orders.com/OGCGW1.jpg If you think they'd be useful, there are a couple of additional pages which show public timetable information. I believe this one covers it fairly well.
Best I can do is Great Western Limited 1923 or Nebraska Limited 1946. Any interest? Regards, Rob. (From "Passenger Train Consists 1923-1973" by Robert J. Wagner.)
