Here is a Chiltern Turbo diesel multiple unit today at Marylebone station. Ben http://www.pbase.com/image/193443.jpg
Thanks Ben, that is another unit type I have not seen In fact, I don't think I have ever looked into Marylebone!
Marylebone these days is both good and bad; it still has quite a lot of the feel of the 60s and 70s in one way, probably because it has always been a small, quiet station, but it has also been changed out of all recognition; you can see how clean, neat and airy it is. Also, something you can't see; it still has its beautiful wood panelled booking office but, horror of horrors, it has been turned into the kitchen and storage area for a cafe that has taken over what used to be the entrance hall. Marylebone has had plenty of moments of fame; because it is so quiet it is the station always chosen for filming whenever a terminus scene is required ("Hard Day's Night", "The Ipcress File" and many others) and it hosted the renaissance of steam in London from the late 80s to the mid 90s with the Shakespeare Expresses and other steam specials. It still had its turntable then, big enough to turn a Duchess or a "Streak". Even in its cleaned up and modernized form now, you only have to close your eyes a bit and use your imagination and you can picture a Robinson 4-4-0, 4-4-2 or 4-6-0 gently simmering at the buffers with top and bowler hatted staff and passengers moving about the platforms.
