We are going to offer a couple of informal Christmas contests without a lot of complicated rules. The prizes will be a DVD from one of our DVD advertisers, Pentrex, Green Frog, or Greg Scholl Video Productions. Check out their sites and you will find loads of great railroad DVD's. I must confess that I am personally addicted to watching these. Our model railroad contest is decorating your layout for Christmas. Beyond that, not many rules - post a photo of your layout decorated for Christmas in some fashion. I will appoint a couple of non-partisan judges to rule over this and we will announce the results around New Year's. Your entry will be judged based on a single photo. You may post more than one photo but a single photo will be the winner so don't feel that you have to decorate your whole layout and post a lot of pictures in order to compete. Here is an example from John Widmar's RailImages album: Please post your entry in this thread. Good luck and Merry Christmas! Charlie
OK guys and gals, as they say, "Some assembly required." The CSX666 made me do it. As all of you prototype people know, I am not a modeler. As my wife and I get older we have seriously cut down on Christmas decorations in and outside the house. This is about it for 2004. We bought the Thomas Kinkade "Village Christmas" tree and are still vascillating about giving it to one of our daughters. Old friends gave me the DeWitt Clinton HO with snap track. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Besides, we need to get this contest going! I know there are so many of you serious modelers aboard. Let's see what you are doing for Christmas.
Modelers--this is a challenge! You KNOW I had tongue firmly implanted in cheek when I posted that photo, but at last count, there is only ONE entry. So far, I'm the winner. Let's see some serious stuff, guys!!
Yep, for the first time ever, it snowed on Cooncreek & Tumbleweed Springs, and guess what Santa appeared to give joy to the loggers. Paul
Here is the winner as announced by our judges. John, PM me your address and a DVD courtesy of Pentrex shall be your prize! Charlie
Thanks everyone for the nice comments, Just wanted to say I received the DVD today and it is all Steam! (This is where I would insert a whole bunch of Happy Faces but I have never gotten around to learning how to do that) A 2 DVD set from Pentrex. This weekend I will have to get into it. Thanks again,
I usually run the DeWitt Clinton around the tree but this year the motor has smoked itself and I can't find a replacement motor. Bachmann has discontinued it and I don't trust Ebay to sell me a working motor. *sigh* My LHS sold me a running John Bull so until I find a motor for the DWC, it's going to have to do.
